The New York Knicks are NBA Champions.

After 53 years of waiting, Madison Square Garden finally got to celebrate another championship. Jalen Brunson and the Knicks gave New York a playoff run we will never forget and brought the trophy back to the city for the first time since 1973.

The streets were packed. The Garden was rocking. New York basketball was officially back on top.

And somehow, that was only the beginning of the summer.

For weeks, the soccer world took over. Stadiums were packed, every match felt bigger than the last, and once again Lionel Messi found himself with a chance to make history.

After leading Argentina to the World Cup championship in 2022, Messi came incredibly close to doing it again. Argentina made it all the way back to the World Cup Final, but this time they fell just short against Spain.

Messi did not get the storybook ending of hoisting the trophy for a second time, but watching him make one final run at another World Cup was something soccer fans will remember forever.

Knicks basketball. A World Cup summer. Messi chasing history. Not bad. But now the calendar turns again.

The wait is over. Another NFL season is here, and once again New York has three teams giving us three completely different reasons to believe.

The Giants are back. The Jets are back. The Bills are back.

And with a new season comes the same thing every football fan feels before Week 1. Hope.

Right now, everybody is undefeated. Nobody has been eliminated. Nobody knows which offseason move will change a season, which young player will break out, or which team will surprise the entire league.

For Giants fans, it is another chance to bring winning football back to New York. For Jets fans, it is another season of believing that this could finally be the year everything comes together. And for Bills Mafia, the goal has not changed. Buffalo wants to play deep into January and finally finish the job.

That is what makes the start of football season different. For the next several months, Sundays matter again.

Fantasy lineups are back. RedZone is back. Tailgates are back. Rivalries are back. And New York football is back.

The best part is that the New York sports calendar is only getting started.

The Yankees and Mets are heading through the final stretch of baseball season. Football has arrived. Before long the Rangers, Islanders, and Sabres will be back on the ice. Then the defending NBA Champion New York Knicks will begin the journey of trying to do it all over again. The Nets will start a new season. The Liberty will continue representing New York on the basketball court.

There is always another game coming.

That is what The NY Teams is all about. Every team. Every season. Every New York fan.

This summer gave us a championship, a World Cup we will never forget, and memories that will stick with sports fans for years.

Now bring on football. New York, we are just getting started.
